This is a natural area with a mere 27ha, the Guadiaro river is an important wetland site and it is one of the few left on Andalucia. It is between the estuaries of the Guadalhorce river near Malaga and the Palmones river in Los Barrios. As it is located in the Strait of Gibraltar, the area attracts numerous migrant birds. In winter we can see jack snipes, many gulls and waders. Flamingos, spoonbills, purple herons and ospreys are also important bird species in the estuary.
